SREE MOOKAMBIKA DANCE ACADEMY FOUNDATION is a registered non-profite organization under section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 ( limited by shares ) . Based in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala state , India , the foundation is dedicated to the promotion , instruction , preservation and advancement of Indian Classical Dance , cultural heritage and Performing Arts across the region . Mookambika Dance Academy Foundation Established on December 29, 1979, at Vellanad in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, the institution was
originally founded as 'Sree Kailas Dance Academy' by Shri Kannur Balakrishnan, a renowned Kathakali and
dance-drama exponent and recipient of the prestigious Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award.
In 2003, the academy officially adopted the name 'SREE MOOKAMBIKA DANCE ACADEMY FOUNDATION'. Building upon
decades of cultural contribution, the organization received central government recognition in 2024 and now
operates as the Sree Mookambika Dance Academy Foundation in formal collaboration with the Ministry of
Culture, Government of India .
